Normal operating temps in a petrol engine is between 195f-220f.
Of course you want the coldest air possible entering the cylinders, free hp, Some will say they make best power at 160f, others 195f... try keeping those temps when ya foots buried

Water doesn’t have to boil to start steaming and evaporating off. It will start doing it way before 212....so this theory is silly lol. .

But the actual GM temp sensor in the cylinder head always shows 10 degrees hotter than the autometer at the water pump. So I figure the heads are up at 190, so I don't want it any hotter! Plus it's quicker when it runs cold due to intake temp, and never pings. I've proven it many times over with my gtech. And I run my tune on the absolute limit of high octane pump unleaded so more heat will just be backwards. And lastly I don't buy into this cylinders sealing better with higher temp crap, at least not in a sleeved block. Cooler cylinder head temps I can run the tune leaner with more timing on pump gas = more power.
While I don't go for leaner, I completely agree with the assessment of running more timing with cooler heads. I run a -4AN steam set up to get as much water flowing through the heads as I can to cool them as much as possible. I seen a guy run a surge tank. He split the radiator hose with a T fitting, up to a surge tank, which he kept half full, and ran each corner a separate line to the surge tank. That was for a turbo build to cool the heads off. I never saw the back to back dyno, but the owner was really happy with the way the car ran after that - both cooling and power.

I also have 4an line on all 4 corners. Now that I'm back to a mechanical water pump, I'm staying 192 now.

I was surprised your meziere didn't do right for you. But I'm glad you got to the bottom of it, anyway...

You know the luck I've had with this car right? Nothing is a surprise anymore 😂

I talked to Meziere and they said it probably sat on a shelf at Amazon and they dont even sell to Amazon so they dont know where Amazon got it
Amazon is refunding most of my money so I just went back mechanical pump and working great for cooling

Some molecules in the mixture we have in the engine do turn to vapour under 212f while other vapourise at higher temps. The minimum is 175f up to 240f.
Theres no moisture left in my engine when it comes up to temp, where as you still do... The question is who's silly....
I can do 20 minutes around the track with max temps 220f , can you

Since changing to the mechanical water pump, car stayed around 198 and only 1time creeped up to 205 . I didnt have time to get the m&h 325x45x17 tires put on my wheels so I went to the coast on my drag set up. Skinnys up front and 275x60 pros on back. Car ran and drove flawlessly.
I lined up with a friend of mine who has a vortech supercharger in heads cam and intake ls1 fbody who made 550running out of fuel pump with a 255walboro at only 5500rpms.. Since swapped it for a 450lph.
We went from a 55mph roll to 135& was side by side the whole way. Here's the kicker, he was alone on 1/4 tank of gas, I had a full tank and a 170lb passenger and through exhaust. He has the speed engineering dual exhaust, I have the bassani dual 2.5" and need to swap to the speed engineering dual exhaust as im losing 30hp to the wheels with this small pipe set up.
Because of him edging me out by a fender, his exhaust was right next to my window so data log shows I shifted second to 3rd at 7300 instead of running it out to 7800where it needs to be.

Great run with a good friend and we both laughed and just enjoyed the run. In no way am I making excuses for why he edged me out, i'm tickled to be running with a blown fbody even if he is only on 8psi boost.
Data logs show I was lean also. Yet I made another hit right after where it was perfect at 12.4 air fuel.
Seems the meth kit is saturating my air filter or something as it makes kpa go down to 92-94 and get lean then it will read 99 the next pull and be great.

Possibly gonna do a Chris 1313 pro stock ram air and 3" speed engineering dual as next mods
I used to go to cruising the coast when I lived in MS. It always ended with street racing at Diamondhead. Good times.

I don't know casano. I do know about taking people's money from the casino the day before cruising the coast however.

Been out there driving with this Density altitude of 162 feet above sea level. I have new tires on the back now for my 17" trims. 325x45x17 M&H drag radials.
They were hooking pretty good when da was over 1000 feet but they get nasty now. I'm really enjoying the car finally and no rush to work on finishing my projects. I have all the stuff to move the battery to the back so that my air conditioning accumulator can mount where stock battery goes. My vacuum pump required me to relocate the accumulator.
After that I'll eventually either change the exhaust for 3" speed engineering dual exhaust or put electric cutouts on this exhaust. Both sound really good but my exhaust system is costing me as much as 31hp in mid range. I can only imagine how this thing will pull with no restrictions.
Im looking at the Granatelli motorsports electric cutouts. Anyone here have experience with them? Looks to be good value.

If I stay with my exhaust, it's so good sounding both in and out of car. No drone or any resonance sound in car anywhere. Also might be good for traction on slick surfaces to lose that 31hp when I need to.
Cutouts also give every thing the motor wants where 3" duals still may have a small amount of restrictions out back. I've heard the speed engineering has some resonance at part throttle. Has an amazing idle sound though, better cam hit than my bassani.

As strong as this thing feels and I haven't even felt it with the exhaust unrestricted, I still keep finding my self wanting after market heads and maybe more cam. Why I don't know, i'm sure I'll surpass my goal from the start of low 10's.

Hp is a drug and im an addict. 😂🤣
