427 Dart lsnext shp short block with k1 rods, crank and wiseco -8 cc pistons ordered today.
heads ordered from Gavin Simcoe at Sps. Going ls3 heads with stainless valves and pac1209x springs for a low lash solid roller cam.
I plan to run the Holley sniper intake (low profile) and will start off with my 9.5" nitrous converter which was a 4600 stall behind my 6.0 on motor . It fell to far on the shifts but it drives great with a non lock up 200-4r transmission with trans brake rmvb.
currently running a 8" fti and will see how the 9.5" does. Fti said they can restall my 8" for the 427 so I may still go that route

project go big starts today, drained radiator and block. tomorrow morning I will pull the motor and transmission early so its not to hot.
current motor is sold and going in my brothers 01 z06 vette. really curious to see what it lays down in his car with the 6 spd. manual transmission.
I think close to 500 rwhp and 440 rwtq

that's not for me. I prefer a clean engine bay not cluttered up and instant throttle response of a NA motor. Though im aware the guy with the turbo junk yard 5.3 will most likely wax my *** , its just not what I want in this Car, I bought it new and don't want thrown together parts in it.

That sounds like a hell of a cam! Looking forward to seeing the build.
We have exactly the same view on turbo vs NA builds and putting junk yard engines in cars bought new. I think the Dart SHP block is a great choice. I'm very happy with SBC Dart SHP in my 72 vette. Dart typically makes some excellent improvements over stock block. The extra .375 of cylinder sleeve will make for very stable pistons with a 4 inch stroker. The Dart LS SHP coming clearanced for up to a 4.1 stoke is pretty sweet too. Plus all the other good stuff.

Heads made it here. Now to get the jesel sportsmans ordered Thursday and then my pushrods. Will be ready to together once piston to valve clearance is confirmed.
Pistons are 0 deck so I wanted cometic .036 head gaskets. They were on back order so I went with felpro mls .041 gaskets. Compression fell at 11.8 to 1 with a 64 cc chamber

I will be posting more soon. I ended up going with yella terra rocker arms instead of jesel as i am only running 500lb psi open pressure valve springs . Waiting on those to come in so I can verify ptv clearance and pushrod length and then ne able to bolt heads down completely.
I agree, instant tq ot a good naturally aspirated motor is fun and when using a 5000+ converter.

So instead of jesel, I went yella terra 6653 rocker arms. The money saved bought me ati super damper and new sensors.
checked pushrods length and it's coming out to 8.225 but to make sure it's right I am going to find an accurate way to measure the length of the checking rod to verify. Then will order either 11/32 or 3/8 . My heads appear to have been clearance for 3/8

Just discovered this thread. Great build. I think you'll be glad you went the 427 route. It's a great bore/stroke combo. I also think you'll be really glad you went with the LS3 heads. Cam looks like a great match for the build. I may have missed it, but what CR are you running?
I just installed the low profile sniper. So far I really like it. It enabled me to run stuff UNDER the manifold instead of over it, which greatly helped cleanup the engine bay. One thing also, I have the NW 102 throttle. The TB cam hits the intake plenum, so I can only get to 76% throttle. You may need about a 1/2" TB spacer unless you plan to run the sniper 105 throttle. I have a friend with a 105 sniper throttle and sniper low profile intake, and he had no issues with the throttle cam touching the plenum. Thought i'd mention it to get it on your radar.
