Default TBss or stock intake with boost

I have a 408 with a procharger turning 12lbs of boost. I have the stock intake and tb on now. I also have a tbss in the garage with the larger tb and xlinq. The stock tb is the same diameter as the pipe coming out of the intercooler. Not sure it is worth changing out the stock truck intake for the tbss.

MY buddy, who majored in physics at a top 2 engineering school, is telling me there may be some benefit while on vacuum. But as soon as the boost comes in ( any boost) the gains from the larger intake will be minimal, 1 to 2 percent. Thjs is all theory. But this dude is pretty smart. This increase translates to 6 to 12 hp.

Anybody with first hand experience in this?

I'd suggest a BBK or Weiand cast aluminum intake. No problems with it cracking. Not sure how far some people have pushed the plastic intakes.

I have not ported the intake so still plenty strong for 12 lbs. I've seen 20 lbs through them.

Any experience with the ones you mentioned?

Just run the stock intake unless you are trying for a max effort. And as far as strength, I don't think there is any worry in the boost levels you mention.

Do you live under a rock? Stock plastic intakes don't have any issues taking 30psi

Healthy gains across the board with the TBSS intake over the factory truck intake NA. Those will just be compounded with boost. I used an adaptor and tossed on the 78mm cable TB on mine. Boosted stuff isn’t real sensitive to TB size, I wouldn’t worry about that part.

Going by % of gain NA, you're gains with the larger motor will be higher as well...

use the 78mm truck TB with the adapter. I tried the china 102mm dbc and #1 it's a piece of ****. #2 you lose a bunch of throttle resolution just about everywhere. #3 requires a lot of effort to get the idle airflow right.
