Iron ls1/prc 2.5 heads or 6.0/ls3 heads build Hey guys, I'm back at it again. I'm getting close on pulling the trigger on my Iroc build. My goal is to be completely street driven,( about 475-480 hp flywheel) occasional track time if any. Something I could possibly daily drive with maximum 93 octane, but retain the street fun.. Something I could drive to car shows hours away... Im looking to use stock internals, just a top end change. Intake, cam, heads,springs,etc... I plan on using a 4l80e trans most likely... 9 inch new ford rear or maybe Hawks 8.8... natural aspirated engine.. Which one of these builds would make a better decision Gen 3 -Iron ls1/ls6 intake/prc 2.5 heads/aftermarket cam build or Gen 3- 6.0 lq9 /stock ls3 intake & heads /cam aftermarket cam build I already have a complete 4.8 & a 5.3 that I could de- assemble and rebuild or I was thinking about getting a stage 1 6.0 shortblock here http://lsx4u.com/engines.html |
Stock LS3 heads and cam? |

Ok I see you changed that after I posted. Honestly both would have no trouble making 480 fwhp. If there is a fair price difference I'd go for the less expensive route. If we were talking 480 rwhp that would be different |
6.0 with LS3 top end and custom cam. |
BTW, NO such thing as an IRON LS1. |

Your goal go be achieved with eithier setup. Which one can you build cheapest is what I would do.... |
I would always go with the bigger displacement. |
If I were to go with the 6.0 build , the heads and intake would be brand new. Not so much the same on the iron ls1. Just a thought that came to me |
look into using a stroker rotating assembly for either build .check out TSP rotating prices . |
I'd do PRC heads for a street car or LS3 heads for a more drag race oriented car. |

If money is an issue, and if you're wanting stock cubes and internals, I'd look into TSP heads. Places like TMS and Livernois seem to have good prices as well |

Yes exactly |
Also I think the 6.0 shortblock that I might purchase maybe bored to a 370... if that changes anything |
