Default Is there a way to find out specs on a cam?

I picked up a 99 T/A the other day and it not a running car. However the short block is in the car and is supposed to have a cam in it. Problem is I have no idea on what the specs are. I bought the car for the transmission so this is more of a that would be awesome if I can make it work but screw it if not.

Pull the cam out and look at it.

Usually, but not always. The better cam grinders almost always ID it somehow.

Look for markings on the cam

Use a cam wheel and degree it

Or put it on a cam doctor

Most cams are identified with a number on the back during manufacturing. Comp, TSP, etc are all pretty easily identifiable. Then you have these “cam guru” knuckle draggers that think their cam specs are top secret and will grind the etching off the back of the cam. You can stll degree the cam yourself or take it somewhere to get measured on a Cam Doctor
