Another LQ4 build
 

I have a stock LQ4 mated to a 4L80E trans in my 55 Chevy Truck. It's running and driving. The only problem besides the fact that the truck is in body work stage (seemingly forever) is that the idle is too smooth for a hot rod style truck.
I have an LS6 intake for the motor and I want to put in a stage 2 or 3 low lift cam and 243 heads for sound and upgrade the power a bit without sacrificing drivability.
Does this sound like a viable combination for my goal?
Also, I had changed the oil pan and pump from a C6 Corvette for road clearance, so the pump should be OK for what I have planned?

I would seriously call WS6store and get one of their High Lift Hot Cams. It has a nice, not-too-rough lope, and is very flexible as far as driveability.
218/227, .600/.600, 112LSA. Get some .600 beehive springs for it. WS6 store can help with all this and will treat you right.
This with the LS6 intake and 243 heads (799's are identical if you happen to find some) will pep up the LQ4 nicely!
Edit- If this cam has more lift than you want then just put in the GM LS Hot Cam. Same specs but with .525/.525 lift
