A good fast as cast head with good springs will be more than that.

I also am very interested to hear what heads you went with and why you didn't just come right out and say it? I'm not saying that as some kind of douche call out nonsense, I just like to know for myself when I've really thrown good money away lol.
Who did you get to work your heads?

I went with Texas Speed. By no means am I saying they're the best. I've been working with them for around 10 years now and they've always treated me well.
I also went with the 2.02 valve conversion. Again probably not needed and it did add a couple hundred dollars.
Car will be hitting the dyno for a very quality tune in about 10 days. We'll really see if it was worth it then.

Those are fantastic heads. I was torn between those and the PRC fast AS cast heads. Ultimately I cheaped out a little bit but have been having a blast all the way.

BARE heads means the finished casting only. No valves or anything.

Bare heads are just that. Just the castings. No valves, valve springs, retainers, locks, rockers assemblies, or anything else.

How much more on estimate does it usually cost to buy the remaining parts and have someone install them?

As far as assembling heads, it's pretty easy to do yourself.

Does anyone know if the crossover coolant line on the heads is mandatory?

For sure do the front as it's the only way to bleed all the sir out. The rears help with that, but not everyone does it, as GM didn't even use them on later engines. I think using the rear steam lines improves the cooling system by ensuring all air is bled out.

BUT, I think the guy on UTUBE proved that you just can't throw the parts in them, you still need to do a good 5 angle valve job, BARE HEADS means you do ALL the work.

TRICK FLOW heads come with the front and rears drilled and tapped

The 5-angle valve job can be done by a machine shop with all the valves "assigned" to their cylinder, and OP can still assemble the head.

Thread resurrection: OP, can you share what you did to get the rear head off and out in a pick n pull yard? Will it lift right off or did you have to remove the engine from under the hood? I have my eyes on a set currently and I'm just seeing a lot of cuss words trying to remove that rear head with the engine in place and the car up on stands in a PYP yard. Thank you in advance.
