Default SBE piston to wall clearance.

It’s a 99 LS1. All bores came up at 3.899 according to the machinist but pistons come up at just under .004. Will that much p/w clearance cause problems or go with it.

Are you running the stock pistons? That’s too much clearance for a cast piston. You’ll have major piston slap.

I made a thread about this after I had my honed to clean up the bores, he went like .003". I don't think you can get away with a light hone and stock piston, unless we're talking like .001" but what's the point there.

I just did it right and went forged wisecos .005" over. I didn't spend a lot of time looking but maybe there are some .005" over cast options. Don't do it, hypers don't expand much at all, it'll be noisy and likely have thrust wear issues from rocking in the bores. .004" is a country mile for hypereutectic pistons

Our new Pro LS pistons come in at .005 (3.903) over. Just a Hone job that way and they have a tight piston skirt profile. .004 metal to metal and roughly .0028" to the outside of the skirt coating. We also go with a 3cc dome to bump compression for more power with the LS1's. We have versions for factory Press fit rod at this time, but they have a provision for circlips for Gen. 4 rods that have been honed or Scat's new I-Beams in factory length that come full floating for a .945 pin.

The rods are expected sell around $350 and will be on our shelves soon. They have a 7/16 ARP cap screw style bolt! The pistons are $499, rings are $99, and we'll need to get you some circlips as well...but that's pretty easy.
