Default Help me with my balancer please so I can get to my internal engine 2002 LS1 Z28

it's been awhile since I've had to take this off and I can't find the box or the receipt for it either, sorry I'm a dumbass. If anyone knows what brand this is and precisely what size thread pitch bolts are needed to use on my puller to remove it I would be eternally grateful. I really want to stab my new Summit Racing 8714 that I just bought in place of the BTR stage stage III truck that's currently in there and give you back to back track results but I don't know what size bolts I need to get it off! I've had great results with this balancer and I would happily buy this balancer again for other projects if I could remember what brand / model it was lol but I've lost the box and I forget who I ordered it from and I don't have the bolts to get it off! But I don't want to buy another puller just the bolts please somebody help !!!

Why not use a jaw-type puller?

Looks like a powerbond harmonic balancer. Wish I could help you with the bolts perhaps contact powerbond?

The jaw puller only works/fits on the stock damper, this is an aftermarket one but I forget which one it is

Dayco makes powerbond balancers, quick trip to their website shows that the sell removal and installation kits for their pulleys.

I would use the google and check prices on any of the sponsors websites, WS6project.com sells them.

There's info in both those threads about how to pull it including the bolt sizes.

That type of crank pulley is best pulled with a steering wheel puller. That's what I use on those. If you can't find the right size bolts to thread into the threaded holes you could always stick bolts through the steering wheel puller and through the large holes in the pulley with a washer and nut on the back side of the pulley and go at it that way.

Invest in a thread chaser set. They're good to have around and they are great for identifying thread sizes/pitch.

I just got off the phone with summit, they told me that the holes are not threaded on my pulley PBU14805510 and they clearly are, now I'm disappointed and I don't even want to change out cams for there 8714 anymore, it better rip lol, Is this really a 3/8" 24 fine thread like the slp pulley? Or should I try to get a jaw puller to work?

Do you have a few bolts laying around that you could thread in by hand and find the bolt size/thread pitch?

Why don't you stop at the hardware store on your way home and grab a 3/8" 24 and take it home and see if it works. If not you'll be able to tell if it's too big or small or if the threads are too fine or coarse and go from there.

I was able to get it off with the jaw puller after playing around with it for a while. It's amazing after 17 years that I'm still getting owned by this ls1 lol
