Default Cam questions/got more mods...

Hey everyone, I order even more mods. I got outbid on my SS wheels, so I decided to use the money I had left to order more performance type mods. So I ordered Hooker LT's and an LS6 intake, and currently I'm bidding on a cam. Now I just need to know what I can expect from this cam. It is a Comp Cam, specs are 218/218, .560/.560, 114 LSA. I know it is a smaller cam, which I want, but I'm thinking I should get some decent torque with this, a little bit of idle, and not totally kill my gas mileage. Am I right?

Should be a good small cam for what you're looking for... some Comp 918s will match nicely with it.

****, I might not get the cam, as it's on eBay, and my wonderful credit card company informed me that since I'm a new account holder, I only have access to half my limit until they approve my usage. What the f%#&! Oh well, gotta start selling my **** on eBay to pay that bill and finish my mods, as I can't pay for my mufflers and x-pipe now either. Son of a....

If I have my Hooker LT's installed (w/ stock y-pipe/catback until I get this credit issue resolved), my SLP lid, and LS6 intake , what is a rough estimate on my hp/tq and 1/4 mile time? I have an A4. I will soon be adding the rest of my exhaust (Spintech X-pipe, and either Flowmaster 1-chamber or Spintech mufflers), FTRA, a cam (hopefully G5X2), and a TCI SF3000 torque converter. What about then?

If you are thinking about a 218/218 and GX2 at the same time, maybe its time to put your wallet back in your pocket and think about what you are trying to accomplish and build a combination that works. You are all over the place combo wise and need to factor in the cost of tuning as well.

Just my $0.02

Well I was only look at the 218/218 because it was convenient. What I'm trying to accomplish is this: increased power throughout the whole band, with a HEAVY emphasis on low end torque. I also want a somewhat lopey idle, without totally killing my gas mileage.

The GX2 will be focused on midrange and top end and will require tuning to work properly in an A4. it will also make a big dent in gas mileage; especially if it is not tuned.

Having a 3000 stall converter eliminates the need for a lot of low end torque. you will never see below 2500 rpm at WOT.

Almost any aftermarket cam can give you a lumpy idle if you leave the stock idle unchanged on an A4.

So what would you recommend for some decent low/midrange power, without negatively affecting gas mileage? My mods when I get the cam will be a lid, ls6 intake, long tube headers, and ram air.
