I spoke to my tuner today and he recommends the 224/228 over the 224/224 but suggested to go for 110lsa over the 112. He said from his experience the overall gains will outweigh the small loss at the top end.
I'm still undecided but it doesn't look like they do the 224/228 @110 anyway.

I mean, isn't that 6 degrees of overlap? That won't be mild compared to something like your previous 220/220 cam. A different type of proposition. So, just be aware, I guess, if you look to similar cams of that spec. Some will still call it mild though

It will be less crusier friendly than the Harrop H2 224/232 on 114 that has 0 degrees of overlap.

Ok, I'll ditch the idea of 110lsa. I'll decide between the 224/224 and 224/228 Texas Speed cams both on 112lsa.
Considering my setup, can anyone tell me what the differences would be in regards to power and economy? I assume they'll be fairly similar.

The 224/224 on 112 has 0 degrees of overlap.
The 224/228 on 112 has 2 degrees of overlap.
I'd expect them to be about the same in gas mileage. The 224/228 will make a couple of more whp and carry the power a bit better in the upper rpm.
I think they will drive very very similar and very well with a good tune with the stall. Either is a good reasonable choice in my view.
FWIW - My old 224/224 on 113 drove very near stock in my opinion in my six speed T/A. Idle was ~900 rpm about 150 rpm higher than stock. Only times car didn't feel stock in manners was creeping around a parking deck uphill or in bumper to bumper, I'd hit the clutch to avoid bucking a little more often than when stock. Likewise once in a while on cold start, car would surge if started with the AC on. That was with a mail order tune 20+ years ago.

Thanks Blackbird. Before I even started this thread I was almost decided on the 224/224 @112 but was open to different "new" style cams. After spending quite a few hours reading threads on here and all over the net since, I've come back to the 2 above cams. The 224/228 @ 112 is the likely choice at the moment but I'll reserve my decision until I'm back in a week or so from a family holiday.
Thanks everyone for your input as I don't get to see many cammed cars so it can be hard to decide. Most people I come across just put in the biggest, loudest cam they can and that's not what I'm after.

For what its worth to you. I have an LS1 04 GTO. I've had good results with 226 232, 578 586, 115. The car has 3.91s. I run OE rockers so I kept the lift under 600. The cam has good manners, meaning it idles well and pulls smoothly. It is a little sluggish in low end torque, but the larger gears compensate well. Plus, GTOs have really low 1st gears, something like 2.90 while Fbodies are about 2.6, so the low end grunt is there. If you have a manual, then lean toward cams with higher power bands. With my gearing, shoot for mid to upper end power.
You should set up a car as a total package. Hope this helps and good luck with whatever you decide.

Basically the Pro LS exhaust lobes set the valve down on the seat gently. If the valve slams down, it rings like a bell through the header primary tube. https://www.onallcylinders.com/2018/...-cams-factory/

Does anyone know if Texas Speed 224/224 and 224/228 have any advance ground in? I've tried contacting them but I'm yet to receive a reply.
The similar cam motions show ground in advance.
Titan 1 221/226 112+2
Titan 2 224/228 113+4
I still haven't ruled out these 2 but there just doesn't seem to be much information on them and basically unheard of here in Australia.

I don't know for sure with those particular cams, but usually +2 on the TSP cams. My TSP is +2 as we're all the others I looked at.

I'm still wondering if the Titan 2 would be any good for me. I assume it would be very similar to the 224r but i don't know if the split pattern would be better than the single pattern.

Decision made. I've ordered the TSP 224/228 @112.

Cleetus McFarland "Bald Eagle" LS1/LS2 N/A Cam Specs: 227/234 .600"/.600" 111 LSA 109 ICL. Which I'm sure would make great power but definitely too big for my liking.
Will still be a few months before the motor comes out but I'll update once it's in.
I've got stock 243 heads going on which I believe will give me a 10.5 compression ratio. What would be the ideal CR for this cam as I can get them milled a bit if need be?

TSP can be very slow to respond to email but they usually get there. I would imagine they get a lot of questions. Being in Australia, phone calls aren't really a good option but no way for them to know where you're emailing from, lol.
I run 11:1 with my Higgins CNC 241 and most shops seem to agree it's a good compromise with a small to mid size cam for street use over here on our fuel. I really rate Higgins work and his prices were quite decent when I last looked.

look forward to your review on your cam choice, I've been looking at VCM cams and am leaning towards the VCM480 as I want the rough idle, but ok fuel usage and low mid range torque/power, whats people thoughts on this cam 224, 228 @50 .580 .600 and 110. I haven't seen any other cams for injected engines with 110 lsa,

Auto or manual? VCM 480, 224/228 .580/.600 110. Interesting with that lift configuration .i would have thought that this cam was made for stock like intake with a large aftermarket exhaust but may be wrong. With 6 degrees of overlap, it should thump but will need a decent tuner. IVC of 38 should help retain decent low down power in a manual.

I did look at the vcm480 but didn't want the 110lsa and they won't grind any different. Makes me wonder if they are mass produced. I know they're a very popular brand in Australia but i just wasn't sold on them.
