Help with comp R's! Someone has to know of a cold setting on the comp R's. It says pre load of 2-4 thou. Hot. But setting them up cold, whats the magic number? The grow rate on the block can't be that different from engine to engine. I have adj. shaft mounts so I want to get them right. Someone has to have done enough of them to know what to set them up cold. Thanks Andy. |
Go to advanced search "Comp R" in the internal section. There is quite a few threads on this. |
I was looking in there. Too much to read. I need to get this motor in today. |
.008-.010"...about 1/5th of a turn |
I set mine to ~.010 cold and has worked fine spinning to 6900 :) |
1/4 to 1/2 a turn is what I turned up when I searched for this info. I have done two motors this way and it was succesfull. The only way to tell how much preload you have is to put a dial indicator on the rocker just over the pushrod and measure when you tighten it past 0 lash. Brad |
Thanks guys. I set them at .015. 1/4 turn past 0 lash with the jessel shaft mounts. Thanks again. I 'll let you know how it works out. |
.010 cold works fine. Have spun my car to 7000 on the dyno with them a number of times. |
