Anyone run the .045 RPM Speed HD MLS Head Gaskets?
Picked up a set of these for my 5.3 thinking they'd have a more ideal quench for an NA build. After looking at them they look to be a painted SS MLS type gaskets with no water jacket sealer of any kind. Has anyone used these? Installed dry?
They don't look anything like the picture on the site.
I can't recall if I'm running the .045 or not, but I am running their head gaskets on the LS6 in my Z28 that were part of their rebuild kits. 3 or 4 years around 700whp at the moment, no issues to speak of. I installed dry.
I ran them on my LS1 w/ notch heads that were milled, ARP bolts and about 13psi. I lifted the heads and pushed water within 100 miles of install.
I don't know if it was the HG, the heads being milled so much, or the boost that caused the issue. Honestly I think it was the combination actually. I knew when I put the turbo kit on it, it wasn't a good idea. It wasn't.
It didn't blow the HG, but you could see on cylinders 4&6 where the exhaust gases got past the gasket when the head lifted.
I will say that N/A, with 11.7ish comp ratio and spraying 150 shot on it, I had no problems.
