Default Quick question on pick up tube o-ring

Dropping the oil pan and replacing the O-ring. Will it be necessary to reprime the oil pump through the port on the front driver side of the block? Or is that strictly with the new oil pump installation?

I replaced the oil pickup tube on a 5.3 I swapped into my 99 Silverado NBS. Just drained the oil, removed the oil pan, changed the o ring.

Re-assembly was clean up the pan, new gasket and dropped it into the truck. I didn't have any issues.

Default Fixed duplicate post

Thank you, I was assuming the oil pump should be just fine having been not disturbed. I just hate operating on assumptions

Not a requirement at all. But never really hurts to do it, either.

AFAIK the factory doesn't prime new engines.

Correct. No priming going on at the assembly line. Start it up, and out the door they go quickly. It’s the dealers obligations to check fluid levels and do the initial pre-delivery check on all functions and check for leaks. My first job at 16 was at a Chevy dealership, detailing cars and doing the pre-delivery checks. We loved it when the IROCs were sold. Pretty fun at 16 to pull those out of the detail bay with tire shine and water on the polished concrete behind the dealership. Might have spun a little…

Welcome to getting taken in by a scam, guys.

Looks like one of those AI bots with the usual completely random first & last name in CamelCase that are popping up on forums everywhere. Always, a first post that's beyond inane and vapid, containing only random non-offensive concepts but not offering anything about the topic at hand; and a completely dartboard-throw random name, sometimes a feminine name on a car forum or something equally unlikely (though that's certainly not "impossible" to occur in real life, just, a poor match of fake userID to the topic at hand, like userID "ArnoldBaxter" might be on a forum discussing bra fitting or something). Closest I've seen to even mentioning the topic is ones that recommend looking it up in the FSM or taking it to the dealership, sometimes even when the discussion is about aftermarket cams or the like, that the FSM doesn't even mention or dealerships won't touch with a 100-yard pole.

Not sure what the purpose is... maybe, get their post count up high enough that they can spam the board with NEW posts plugging Temu BS or other chinesium garbage.
