How Many RPM's are Possible ?

I was watching a NASCAR race recently and noticed a frame on the screen showing the MPH & RPM's of different cars on the track. They were taching from 7500 to around 9500+. That begs the question, how many RPM's are possible with an LS1/LS6, and what mods would have to be done to safely tach say 8000/9000 rpm?

I have been in one that reved all the way to 7200....but i wouldnt imagine it going to 9500 too often.

It would take extensive bottom end work to safely rev over 7200 rpms on a regular basis...

consider that these crap engines that rev to 9000-9500rpm
are only built to serve 800 miles and get as low as 3.5mpg

bottom end work, lightweight valvetrain, solid roller setup could get you up there. an easier way would be to just destroke your motor.

and do a search, this has been discussed at length before ;)
