The motor is in the car and will be going to Irwindale this Thrusday for some test and tune runs. The 6.0 heads flowed 352 cfm @.600" intake and 240 cfm @.600" exhaust

Enjoy.......

Looks good. I'll have to come out Thursday and show you what an all bore can do.

Haha Terry, add 400lbs to your car and T-56 and I'll be glad to line up with you. The Rev 1116 dual springs are more sturdy than my old 987 dual springs, I haven't heard of any failures with these springs unlike the 987's.....

I am in the process of putting 987 in my heads. What problems have you had with them? Thanks.

REV duals with 242 duration and .612 lift here. No problems! Not sure which REV's though.

Re: Andy's Auto Performance 388 (pictures)

I didn't have any problems with the 987's per se. but my mechanic did say i was getting valve float on the top end because of them. I have heard of stories of 987's breaking, not so much with the rev 1116 duals.

Looks good...is that a dry sleeve setup? Also, wouldnt 4.125 bore by stock stroke (?) be a 387?

JPR is doing an all-bore 387 for me, so Im in a similar boat, with the engine ready for the dyno hopefully by this weekend.

I seem to have heard the opposite. There have been several people on this board that have broken the Rev springs. For awhile, I had heard of 3 or 4 of them breaking all from different people all in the same week. They were all running relatively small cams also.

I've never heard of a 987 breaking personally.

What did those heads flow on a 3.900" bore?

Re: Andy's Auto Performance 388 (pictures)

Well I think we all can agree that there is no "miracle cure" valve springs for the LS1, I went with the spring that I think best suits my setup. EZss, I don't know that the exact mathematical formula to come up with the CI of an engine but I always thought that a 4.125 bore x 3.622 stroke was 388 cubic inches, I could be wrong though. Concerning the sleeve setup I know that it is an LS6 block with non-Darton sleeves. My buddy Micah has AAP 6.0 heads on a stock motor and his heads flowed very similiar to mine.

I was just making the point that huge head flow numbers don't mean the car will haul ass or make much power. It just means the the headporter knows a lot of flow bench tricks.

*Sigh* What part of comparing like cars is so tough for you? Those same heads and cam are making 118mph traps (2mph slower than mine) on a six speed car that's 200lbs lighter than mine. Sounds like a "magical" set of heads to me.

Re: Andy's Auto Performance 388 (pictures)

Hey I can only speak for my car but it does take some work to get going that quick. Its not like you bolt on heads/cam and run 10s. You need gear, slicks, a good exhaust, good tuning, and some other tweaks to get there.

My point is big head flow numbers are not necessarily part of that equation. This is just my $.02 but I wouldn't use 6.0L heads on anything but a 9:1 blower/turbo car.

Re: Andy's Auto Performance 388 (pictures)

I dunno Terry, Jason seems to really know what he's doing. Granted he needs a rear end and a tire (badly), but that's not going to give him 9mph.

He needs a lot of work but he'll get there. The reason his MPH is way down is because of 3.42 gears. When I went from 3.23s->4.10s I picked up 3.5mph! Running on slicks will help his MPH even more. An underdrive pulley will add another MPH. In addition I think there is something wrong with his lifters, his engine ticks really loudly at idle. I think he has a clutch issue as well.

He'll be in the 122-3mph range as soon as he adds gear, slicks, and takes care of a few little things. As far as I know with his rollbar/street tires he is the same weight as you.
