918's with XE-R lobes?

My homie wantin to put in my old cam. He has stock retainers, and 918's on a stock ls1 head/motor.

cam is

Comp Cam XE-R
232/236 .595/.601 @ 112

Will the 918's hold up to these aggressive lobes?

No, they are rated for 600 lift, that one is 601. So I def would go with dual springs.

I've heard of them used for cams of around that size...BUT I wouldn't go there. Duals are to cheap to not use them.

I'm usually fine with running near or at recommended lifts, but NOT with an XER grind. Go dual.

:werd:

Too risky at that lift with the xer :eek2:

too extreme a lobe profile. if you like to kiss your pistons, run that for about 15k miles....if you get that far:engarde:

many ppl have had good luck with 918's. i wouldn't risk it. go duals...either crane, or even better, patriot golds.

Remember, Comp used to rate the 918s at .625" max lift, but lowered it to .600 once their 921 Duals came out...hmmm...

Check this out Note the lift and rpm specs.

I use 918's with my XE-R, but the lift isn't nearly that high. With that cam, I'd get some duals for sure.
