Default How long have your 918's Lasted

Heres the deal I have a TR 224/.561 114 with 918's. I have about 4500 miles on this setup, but I am buying heads and I am keeping the same cam. Should I reuse the old 918's or go to a new double spring setup. Money is an issue here so let me know what you guys think. Will may 918's hold up? The car is my daily driver.

Mine have been in since May of last year in my daily driver. Probably have 11-12000 miles on them with no problems. T1 cam.

Thanks for the reply. I will be making a fairly long trip this summer and i'm really just looking for some reassurance. You only here the bad things about the 918's. I am hoping this post turns into an advertisement for 918's!
Anyone else

I would get new springs. Doubles preferably. I know some people do but I've always heard it's not a good idea to re-use springs.

I would reuse them, but plan on replacing them in 15K miles. I have stock heads with 918's now, but plan to install S2 heads when it hits 20K miles on the springs (at 10K now).

If they had 10-12K (or more) miles on them, I would replace them however.

I would just go with a double spring set up. Put it like this. If you ever want to go for a bigger cam in the future, your heads will already be machined for dual springs and you wont have to take em off the car again to get teh pockets cut.

I agree I say go with the new springs especially since your getting new heads, Look at it this way your going to eventually have to spend the money anyways

I don't plan on replacing my 918s till they get about 30-40K miles on them. BUT, I'm running a rather unaggressive cam (B1) with stock valves and Ti retainers. I don't race the car much at all, and I don't rev past 6400rpm.

918s are a great spring. A few broke due to a bad batch, but the majority of them are doing great. I've had mine since November or December of '01, which was well before the bad batch went out.

I would say reuse them if money is an issue.I've had no problems with mine (60 1/4 mile passes and 40 dyno runs)This was even with the time of the bad batch and for the record I've seen broken dual springs before on LS1's.

Mine lasted 14,000 miles, but I was only running .544 lift.

I've got 11k on mine so far since last March, running a T1 cam. Hoping they can last another 10k or so, plan to do heads by that time.

I have 12k on my 918 with the F1 cam. Everything seems to be holding up just fine.
