Question about oil / water mixed
Ever since I installed my cam, I've started using a little oil. After my last trip to the track, the 'low oil lite' came on. I checked it & it was ~1 1/2 qts low! So when I opened the oil filler cap I had a small amoun of the dreaded milky sludge on it, along with some water.
The oil dipstick did NOT show the milk shake, the oil looked fine. But when I checked the coolant dip stick, the water was full, but it had about 1/2" of the milk shake at the top.
My question is, do I have a head gasket going, or does this indicate a head or block issue? Any ideas / experience out there? I'm used to seeing the water go into the oil, not the other way around. A friend suggested that since I run synth oil, and the car sat for 3 weeks after racing, the condesation on the filler cap might be normal. But the sludge in the water certainly isn't.
I plan to tear the motor apart to replace gaskets (& rework / replace the heads) but I'd like to hear what people think so I can look in the right places.
