You're talking about using ported and polished 5.3 heads right?

5.7 heads will have shrouded valves on the 5.3. This will hurt not help performance. The 5.3 heads will raise your C.R. on the 5.7 but, they have smaller valves. Gains on the 5.7 will be small if any.

Leave your mom's heads alone, it's not worth it.

I have a set of patriot 5.3 heads i will sell ya for 800 bucks. Theyve been on my car for around 6-7k. I was pleased with em. I made around 400 rwhp and 11.2s at 120.
