Default just measured my pistons out of the hole

there .008 out. so with a cometic gasket .045 my quench should be .037 right?? that would be my best shot with a stock bore right guys????also im milling my afr down to 60cc, then with the flycutting of the pistons(.060) i should be back around 62cc which should bring me back to around 11:1.i plan on doing it right this time guys, so learn from my mistakes

Sounds just right. I guess Cometecs are the only .045 gasket out for stock bore?

I would take things a step further. If you are satisfied with the camshaft that you have, don't look at the static compression ratio (SCR), focus on the dynamic compression ratio. With the efficiency of your AFR's you should be able to push the DCR close to 9:1, that's what I would focus on....not your 11:1 static number! Then you'll be up there with the "Big Dogs"!

I'm right there with what John B had to say. Forget about your static, and figure out how much chamber volume you'll need to bring your DCR up around 9:1. If you're picking up the dynamic compression, you may want to think about lowering your quench heigth even more which will help with detonation. If you use the Cometic .041/3.910 gasket, you'll bring your quench heigth down to .033". That'd be fine for someone not reving over 7k, while helping with performance. I know someone with a .026" quench heigth and his piston doesn't start to contact the head until 7000rpm-and that's ever so slightly and with factory internals...The smaller 'squish' area will cause more turbulence inside the chamber as the piston head and cylinder head deck sqishes more of the fuel charge into the head chamber. That'll provide a more complete burn which makes for a better/more solid explosion and may also cool some of the rough spots that could end up as detonation causing hot-spots. That's more pwr and even better economy if you think about it...
Kind of detailed? Sure, but do it right the first time. Or should I say second time?...
