Take the part # for the pump, call Scoggin-Dickey (LS1Tech vendor for GMParts), and get a price quote.

The LS1 and LS6 pump are the same. I don't know why you keep asking this.

Directly from Scoggin Dickey:
The LS1 And LS6 use the same pump. Part #12563964 is listed in our GM catalog for either engine.

Does that answer your question?

YES, YES, YES!

The LS6 and LS1 oil pumps that you buy from GM are the SAME! The '01 LS1/6 used a revised oil pump due to the random failures some of the pre-'00 pumps had.

Vendors promote the pump as an LS6 for MARKETING so that people think they're getting something inherently better b/c it is marketed as an LS6 pump. Since the LS6 has 405 HP ('02+) then the pump on it must be inherently better, right? It has nothing to do with the better heads and cam on the car

Buy it from Scoggin-Dickey, board sponsor at the right. They're a GM Dealer and give hella good discounts on GM OEM parts.

Just get the regular pump from them. If you want to spend $150 for the ported/blueprinted/etc one vs $70 or so for the stock one, then so be-it. However, it's no necessary to have the $150 one. You'd be just as safe with the OEM one.

Cannibal, in your opinion is it worth it to upgrade from the stock '00 LS1 pump to a new OEM replacement?

WSteve6, if you would feel more comfortable knowing that you would be purchasing the "revised" pumps then yes. You have a '00 model pump which was used on the 98-00 LS1 engines. These are the ones that had a few pumps fail and lead to engine damage and/or failure which prompted GM to revise them. What they actually revised I don't know. I haven't read any data indicating exactly what was the causative agent(s) for the pump failures in the 98-00 model LS1 engines.
