"Since my car is lowered 1.5" I stopped using the long filter and switched back to the standard one. I use 6 full quarts and will add an additional 1/2 quart for the track."

Me too. 3 years now, 6 quarts.

Alot of you guys that have had to stop using your longer oil filters would really be better of going with a remote setup from Canton Racing. I haven't used a traditional spin-on filter for 5 years. I run a Canton remote filter assembly part# 25-100 which now has become 25-106 because they use -12 ports instead of-10. It has no bypass and flows 45gpm. I run it to the front through Aeroquip Star-Lite hose, and I use my own custom bracket. They also have some spin-on with a replaceable element, and you just replace the highflow element.

The long filter on mine hangs basically at the same level as the pan on mine...I don't see how I could possibly only hit the filter if I hit a really bad bump. The entire pan would be screwed.

That's what I thought until it happened to me. There's nothing worse than that.

5.5 with the K@N 1007. I'd run a longer filter in a 4x4 but not a car like mine lowered or not. The filter is just too close to the ground for my liking to run a longer filter. I wish there were more room to run a wider filter. I hate how small ours are. The size my 94 Grand Cherokee with the 318 uses is MUCH larger. Actually, the Jeep uses the same sized filter as LT1's do, at least in K@N form.

Word! If you use Moble 1 the longer filter part number is M209. AC delco should be pf59. the M1 is almost flush with the oil pan. I wouldnt worry about bottoming out. Your whole pan assembly, headers ect would be f'ed if it hit that high.

I use the same 2006 filter with 6.0 quarts..
