Default I need your opinions on the best crank shafts and rods

My motor is toast, so I think I'm going to build a 408 (I think). I've been talking to my local speed shop and looking on the internet for what I want and what I need especially. From what I've seen, the most popular brands are callies, eagle, and lunatti. I'm sure there were others, but these are the ones I can think of off the top of my head. I've noticed Eagle's to be the cheapest. How much power can they hold up to. My intentions are 550 rwhp n/a and also having the capability to spray a 250 shot through a direct port system. Will the eagle crank and rods hold up well enough. The lunatti stuff is expensive! And the callies are about in the middle. I'm on a reasonable budget, but don't want to get rediculous. I guess I just want your opinions are the various pros and cons of this stuff. I'm going w/diamond pistons just fyi. Please feel free to add any others to the list and share your experience. Thanks a lot!! ~Andy

I have eagle rods in my motor. Plan to make 700rwhp with a turbo i hope they hold.
My friend Matt has them in his motor had plans to spray 200-400 just to see how fast he can go.

The eagle crank is about the best bang for the buck you can get. It should hold up to the HP you plan on making. I'm running an eagle crank, lunati rods, & diamond piston. Just make sure you find a good machine shop. sloppy machine work will leave you with an expensive paper weight.

What do you think the eagle crank is good to? 800rwhp, 900rwhp? I'll be ending somewhere in the high 700's low 800's rwhp

A 396 I believe That'll be a good ol time. Let me know when he gets you some final pricing because I may consider going that route as well. How soon are you getting that started?

BEST: "HTC:Hank the Crank" for cranks "Carillo" and "Oliver" for Rods
Very good:Lunati
Bang for buck: "Cola" for cranks (not chinese like Eagle) and Manley Rods.

I have not had any experience with Callies of late but have heard good and bad about them.

Carillo and HTC are sickeningly expensive. However there are none better in the business are far as I'm concerned.

I would pay the extra for a Cola crank over the Eagle anyday. The Eagle parts are forged from pure "Chinesium" .Cola is made in the US and carries an unconditional warranty for 6months in NA applications. That's tough to beat at any price.

Thats my opinion

well harlan had the stock crank to over 1000rwhp (just a guess on hp) either way he ran 8's on it...so i'm sure this one will do better than that

Cola cranks was out of buisness like 2 years ago. I was trying to get them to put on the reluctor on my lunati crank. Talked to a guy one week then called back a couple weeks later to do it and all I got was a recording.
As for the cranks I would spend the extra cash and get the callies over the eagle. It is a nice piece. I have a lunati and that thing is a work of art. The eagle rods look idenical to the carillo rods and are ok, but sdpc had some better ones for the same price. Diamond have some great rings but you really have to check that reluctor wheel clearance on the #8, and they only clearance that piston. I had to go through the last set of pistons and clean them up a bit. Still had some metal flake from machining.
