Default AFR 205 heads what do you think of them?

I decided to get off the fence and order a set of these nice looking heads. What kind of average gains do you see with these heads? My cam is average by these days standards but will these heads make a big improvement over stock heads and benefit when on the hose? Can I use stock new head gaskets and new stock head bolts?

looks like you have the "afr" cam anyway so your good there. average gains depends on how much your willing to setup your combo right. just slapping them on will net you a good gain but dont expect to compete with the 450rwhp+ cars with essentially the "same" combo.

i dont see why you couldnt be in the 400rwhp range. looks like you already have all the key bolt ons as well. do you have any dyno numbers with your current setup?

I just installed a set with the AFR cam. I haven't dyno tuned yet but I definitely can tell the difference from my last H/C with LS1 ported heads. All of the bolts threaded ok and I didn't find any QC issues. I can't give you any dyno numbers but I am completely satisfied with the way my car runs, especially all of the low-end power. In fact, I'm almost reluctant to know the dyno numbers because I don't want to be disappointed (I've never experienced dyno numbers that met my expectations). Anyway, I'm thrilled with them and bet you will be too.

I could not sit back on the sidelines anymore had to get in the game with everyone. I think you are right that a 12 bolt will be the next thing in order.

Byter:Thanks for the great input on your setup makes me feel better spending that kind of money on these heads.

They are as good as good Stage 2 LS1 heads...no better...
Are they worth the extra coin?
