What's the max installed height of ls1 valve springs? How deep can you cut the spring pockets? What is the maximum diameter for stock spring pockets? What is the max diameter spring (non beehive style) that will clear the rockers? In specific, comp cam pro magnums if it matters.

If you cut the pockets deeper, aren't you going to reduce pressure? The average LS-1 spring installs at 1.800. I think the comp 977 springs are 1.460". My AFR's have pockets that are 1.500 and they don't look like they could be opened up to much more. I'm guessing .040-.060 more. The rockers do matter. The 1.460's should clear the pro-magnums as that is what I used to run on my LT-1. Stockers will not work without being ground down. What are you trying to do?

I'm looking at specs on Isky's solid roller springs. They install at 1.950" height. Which means based on your 1.800" listed above that the pockets ould need to be cut 0.150 deeper. Is there room to cut that much away?
The diameter on them is 1.550, so that's .050 bigger than the AFR pockets you mention. That might be doable. But since they aren't beehive type springs I still wonder if they will clear the pro magnum rockers.

Usaully in a solid roller application, the Solid roller valves are .100 longer, so in theory, you would only have to cut .050 out of the pockets. I don't see why you couldn't get 1.550 out of the circumfrence of the pocket. With that much spring pressure, you should really steer away from the comp pro magnums. It's not the rocker its self that is the problem, but the small stud. Sure it's 3/8 or 7/16 on top, but the bottom is only 8mm unless you have them enlarged. For solid app.'s people usaully run shaft style rockers.
