Cam choice for stock geared (3.42s) M6?
I just picked up a '01 SS M6 w/ low miles, 18k, so I'm sticking to bolt-ons n suspension for now. Down the road I'll be going with 4.10s in a 12-bolt, but as the title asks, what are some good grinds for a 3.42 car (NA and nitrous choices). I don't mind a nice, lopey/choppy idle, but nothing so extreme that it'll be hard to start/keep running. It's not an everyday car and it'll be used for some weekend street action.....

I am running the FMS F12 230/230 112 LSA on my stock 3.42's. I don't have any problems and it pulls hard. I will be upgrading to 4.10's when I get some more money. The cam has a nice lope to it too!

tsp 233/239 would probably be a little bit better split for nitrous.
tsp torquer would be nice daily driver n/a
also all the futral cams mentioned above would work great n/a.
Just all depends on what you want.

yea id like to see a dyno graph of a tq'er and 233/239 over top of eachother with equal mods or same car kinda thing, then do them on a 125 shot... dunno how much difference youd' get on 150 shot or lower.. maybe 10hp? but if the tq'er dynoed 10hp better n/a or had more low end tq, id rather have that one i think as i dont intend to spray THAT much.. infact the whole point of ME getting a cam is to have to use the n2o less lol

My 4.11 work fine on a stock motor with a T56 and BFG 315 drag radials, but are marginal when my 150 wet shot kicks in. I would rather have 3.89.

f13 here, drives fine with the 3.42 gears, but i think the car would REALLY benefit from 4.10;'s due to the fact that this cam is VERY strong up top, but it has a little less low-end than the stock cam.

My advice.....I bet if you asked candie or alan REALLY nice...they could custom grind you a FM11 on a 110 LSA...or lower for you.....

I don't want an obnoxious idle. Thoughts? My cars a M6.

I'm going with the F10 because I'm keeping the 342's in my car and I dont want to have to change out the 918's to goto a F13. As long as I hit 400rwhp I'll be happy lol

I think you are focussing on the wrong thing here. Its not about peak horsepower and bragging rights for a car over 400rwhp. That's for Dyno queens. What's important is matching your cam to your gearing and going for max. power over the RPM band that you pass the traps at.
For 3.42 geared cars NA you wont see anything more than 5400RPM. So you want to maximise your TQ over the 2500-5600RPM band, ie., the STOCK power band. CAMS that peak beyond that will slow you down, even though they will make great peak power.
A proper spec. CAM of around 212-216 duration should outperform a 224+ cam on 3.42 gears at the track. Note the keyword PROPER. Increase the final drive ratio to something 3.91 or 4.11 and its a different story. But then you start sacrificing streeability for track cred. as it will be spin city with anything like spirited driving.
People will have their own opinions here and are welcome to respond.

Sorry to highjack the thread, but i had a question that regards gears and a cam.
What gears would the LS6 cam with 100 shot of n2o work best with? 3.73 or 4.11's? This is in an 02 Camaro M6 daily driver.
