Just bought TSP 233/239...918's or dual springs??
Okay guys, I did a search and couldn't really come up with anything conclusive, so I throw myself to what I know is deep knowledge on this board. Given that the TSP is 233/239 603/600 is a dual spring really necessary? I read that originally 918's were listed as good to .625 but changed to .600 when Comp brought out the 921's. I have read all the advantages of a beehive spring and don't want to give that up by going dual spring if I don't have to. Going dual is actually cheaper in a PRC kit, so it's not a cost issue. It's more a "is it necessary or really just overkill to be safe" type question. Any and all feedback welcome and FWIW the guy at TSP said go dual, but I know I've read Jason to say the 918's are okay? How about stories from the street gang, those in the know, Big cammed guys share please !

THAT-A-BOY JIMMY! I knew it wouldn't take long till you broke down and bought something else for the Z! The PRC's seem to be a nice spring, decnet price, and nobody seems to have troubles with them. I would also look into the Comp 987's also, but stay away from the 941's, have heard horror stories about them breaking and destroying the motor.

With proper install, good lifters and accurate geometry, they WILL handle their advertised #'s and a little more.

I guess maybe a better question would be has anyone here broken a 918 ? And if so, what mileage on what camshaft. I'm already figuring to replace them once every 10-15k so no biggie there. Actually I'll probably upgrade to better heads by the time the 1st change would be due if not before......

Not sure, might be a while, I'm looking at all the other costs I'm going to have to do this right...LS6, asp pulley, ported pump, roller t/c, all valvetrain, ported t/b. etc. It's going to hurt the piggy bank pretty quick, but I figure I'll see how well I can do on the 98 heads with this cam and then get TEA stage 2 5.3's or similar & see....I'm probably already looking at shattering my 7.5 as it is....
