Default LS7 heads on LS1?

I'm hearing all kinds of cool stories about the new LS7 heads (and manifold) and I wondered if they can be put on an LS1 block. With the 2.2"/1.61" valves, I guess we would need an offset rocker (which means T&D needs to gear up) and I wonder if the exhaust ports will match up to LS1 headers.

yea, these would be wicked heads to have on an ls1. too bad they'll be setup for a 427, I still have a lowly 346 lol.

i think a 2.2" intake would definitely be shrouded by the smallish bore of an ls1. however if you're buildling a 427 already i think they would fit the bill quite nicely if you could get a set of them

Would the LS7 heads fit on a LS1 block? That would be insane. Are the valves physically farther apart in the LS7 head? I ask this because the stock head needed to be mass produced so they made the same heads for the LS series engines, but anybody that was an engineer knew that if the valves were further apart in the 5.7 you could make more hp. If the valves were further apart... holy crap.

Thanks for the responses in advance.

I heard the heads will fit if you also use the LS7 intake. Who knows though.

Valves that size won't fit inside a stock LS1 bore. You would have to bore the engine first.
