Default TRex cam owners inside...anyone probs???

Just wondering what kind of power everyone has been making to the wheels with the trex? any p/v clearance problems??

Time to go with a bigger cam. its an 02 WS6, stock heads, tr224, hooker longtubes, 12bolt 4.11's, etc. Debating on the Trex or TSP 231/231, or 233/239? Any comments would be greatly appeciated. Thanks

dont mess around get the trex! Definitely makes some good power. No piston to valve clearance problems. Dont listen to some of these people who tell you this cam is "undrivable". They must have never experienced one for themselves. Put it this way, on a half *** tune for another cam there is no surging/bucking, brakes work fine, barely searches for idle. When you fire this cam up the first time, there will be no question that you made the right decision, and then when you stab it, you wont be able to get a smile off your face all day.

i had one with a set of absolute heads and it drove ok
it bucked and surged like a **** at lower rpm(under 2500)
then the motor blew up from a comp r failer and desided to go eith stock heads and a smaller cam

I've been running the T-ReX since April and have, for the most part, been pleased with it. The drivability isn't too bad. I couldn't drive the car daily, but I don't have any part part-throttle tuning and am still using stock 3.42 gears. With a good tune and steeper gears, daily driving shouldn't be too difficult, but could still get frustrating, especially at low speeds.

That said, I've been thinking about swapping the cam for something a tad bit tamer. I've only been able to make 403 RWHP with it with all of the bolt-ons and 3" duals, and I'd rather have a cam that peaks a bit earlier if that's all I'm going to be able to get out of the T-ReX. With some more tweaking of the tune I think I might be able to get 5-10 more RWHP out of it, but my goal when I bought the cam was to top out at over 420 RWHP.

One thing I absolutely love about the T-ReX, though, is the sound. The lope it produces puts a smile on my face everytime I fire the car up.

well james is talking about my car and i can say on a tune for my old cam my car drives fine i could drive it everyday if i needed to . without 4.10 gears it would be a bitch but i recommend this cam to anybody.

Even with stock tune and 3.42 gears, I don't see what all the fuss is about. Yes, it bucks at low rpm (~1700 or below right now with this tune), but other than that, it's fine. No probs with braking, no p-v problems, even with stock tune the drivability is fine if you keep the rpm's up away from the bucking. The idle ROCKS, I get all kinds of people asking about the car. I plan to tune the car once the weather permits and I get a new clutch in the car. And when the stock 10 bolt goes, I'll prob get a 4.33 9" rear.

As far as a daily driver, if I had a 20 min or so commute to work everyday, I wouldn't mind driving it daily at all. But I travel ALOT for work, sometimes driving from Ohio to the east coast, so I have a beater for daily duty.

low end is a dog.get passed 4k and above to 7k and your pulling hard.depends if you daily drive it or not.as far as dyno at least 400 and above all the bolt ons you can stuff in your car.

No P2V problems, but I have a HPE built 408 that had TREX in it when I got it. It surges like a crazy bitch below 1500 RPMS, looks like you already have good gears for it, is your car a A4? If so you will want a higher stall.

Also be prepared to have everyone look at your car all the time, it lopes like crazy.

SOOOOOOOOO true! All the old ladies ask what is wrong with your car while all the guys give you the thumbs up and come up to you or hang out the window when driving to ask questions about it.

i'm not too impressed with the trex. i installed one for a customer a few weeks ago. the car is a full bolt on m6 car, and it made 382 rwhp after tuning. this same car made 357 rwhp with an ls6 cam and no tune. for that power, he could have gotten a much smaller cam.

I drive mine daily, or at least I used to before I installed my cage. Extreme Performance here in OKC tuned mine and it is very smooth. Don't get me wrong it isn't like driving a stocker, but there is no bucking or surging. I have a spec 4 and the t-rex and you can take off normal without snapping your neck. it makes awsome power and is a blast to drive.

there is something wrong with that car then...

my old B1 cam only setup make 380+ RWHP

Trex works well for me. Pushed my 3500 lb pig to 10.6s
