You dont need 500 miles, just drive it around town with dino oil in it for like 20-30 miles, change the oil to synthetic, then run it.

Dont forget to heat cycle the new springs on your heads.

500+ miles maybe for a new bottom end...
Run the dyno oil in it for 20+ minutes, drain, replace with synthetic and it should be good to go.

we already did the heat cycle and top end cleaner with regular oil, then switched to synthetic. so now that i have synthetic and the springs have been heat cycled, what now?

If you have a new longblock I would break it in for 500-1000 miles before taking it to high rpms on the dyno. Since you just replaced your heads and have allready heat cycled the springs, take her to the dyno.

Go dyno it... I've swapped heads and cam drove it just to make sure all was well then went straight to the track. You only need to heat cycle the springs. Do you think people with race cars drive them for 50-100 mile before they race them???
