How do I know when lifters have leaked down when installing aftermarket rockers? I have a set of 1.8 Yella Terra
rockers which I want to install and part of the procedure is
(when deciding if shims are needed) to wait until the lifter has leaked
down all the oil normally use for making up lifter slack during normal
operation. Is there a clear test/sign I can go by before installing
the rocker on the leaked down lifter? (I have a mild cam with only .527
lift and 2003 Z06 springs which should be okay for the new lift of about
.558).

Tighten down a rocker arm with the pushrod in place on a cylinder that is on the base circle of the cam. You should be able to pull the rocker tip off the valve even if it is tightened down. If it doesn't pull off then rotate the motor by hand a few times to make the cam go through its lift a few times and the pushrod pushing down on the lifter should push all the oil out of it. Now rotate again until it's on its base circel and try again. If you can pull the tip off the valve then it's blead down. Good luck.
