Comp 921's Hey guys, ive got an 00 Z bolt on car and im planning on putting an X3 cam or a fm 15 cam. I have a set of comp 921 and hardened pushrods just laying around and i want to install them but i wont have the cam for a couple of months (waiting to get ls6 intake and ported throttle body etc...) My question is will the car be ok running the 921's until i get my cam or is that to much spring for a stock camed car? |
What would you gain from doing that? nothing. |

IMO, just be patient. |

better valvetrain stability at higher RPMs I have 918's with the stock cam and Ti retainers and hardened pushrods. This was done after launching at 6600+ rpm (about 20 passes) on the stock valvetrain and it messing up a few things. There is nothing wrong with doing it, in fact I would personally prefer to do it before and save yourself the headache and some time from the cam install. The spring install ate up about 2-3hrs on a friends car. |
Go ahead and swap them. If you picture what is happening, the stock cam may be smaller but it's still a solid piece of metal pushing up on the lifters. Not like the stronger springs are going to suffocate it, lol. Only question: Do you have a GOOD spring tool? |
