Default NOW THE CAR WONT STAY ON..when i turned the heat on the car started to bog

hey, i recently purchased a 99 ws6 m6 with 37kmiles. the car is extremely clean and you can tell good care was taken with it. the car has a centerforce clutch, 410s, borla catback and an aftermarket lid (it says ls1 in red on it). well i just recently started driving the car (it sat for the winter) and since i started driving it i havent turned the heat on. tonight i turned the heat on and immediatly after i did that the car started to react funny. the car starting bogging out while driving and during idleing the rpms would abnormaly fluctuate, as if the car was sruggling not to stall. i have no idea what is causing these problems but until tonight the car was running perfect! i did a search and i couldnt find anything even similar to my situation so i know this is a unique case. i really need to know whats going on, maybe a sensor is bad or something? this is really making me down since my new baby isnt acting right. any help or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated. thanks!

That's a strange one but two thoughts:

First, the heater controls are vacuum operated so if you have a leak it my be causing you to lose engine vacuum.

Second, look at your voltage, does it drop when you put the heat on? You would think that a short in motor bad enough to cause the voltage to drop would blow a fuse...but....check anyway.

Listen for any hissing sound under the dash that
is more than momentary, when you turn the heat
on.

Also some of the heater positions run the A/C
compressor as well (like defrost and the defrost /
heat combo for sure, maybe the hi/lo as well).
That puts more load on the engine. This should be
compensated for by the PCM but if, say, the A/C
compressor was taking more than a normal amount
of torque, maybe the compensation is a little short.
But I think that can learn?

that would be my guess..........other than an electrical load, the heater does not cause a direct mechanical load on the engine (like AC)......

acting funny usually has to do with vacuum (or lack of it)

where and how do i look for vacuum leaks? i read you can spray carb cleaner on it but id rather not spray that around my clean engine.

The compressor runs if the defrost is on...

I would have to say you have more than a vacuum leak. You turn off your heater when restarting? Sounds like somthing eletrical.
