can a 5.3 block be safely bore to 3.905??

just like the title says, can I safely bore a 5.3 block to 3.905? Im just wanting to make sure before I buy the block, going to forge up my turbo motor

What is the bore and stroke of the stock 5.3? Just get a 6.0 iron block if you have to get pistons. SDPC has them new pretty cheep once you pay to bore the 5.3 block out.

Yes, I am doing one right now for a 383 build up. Plenty of metal in the block for that bore size

The stock cylinder walls are about .240" thick or so and .062" taken away to make the 3.905 bore still leaves .180" or so depending on core shift. That is plenty up to a point of a race engine.
