Question LS1 Intake port science

Designing an intake manifold. Why is the floor of the LS1 intake so low and has a negative 10 degree (Approximate) angle? Current manifold runner floors come in perpendicular the the head, not a very good transition. Serious... gotta' know.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that it has to do with underhood clearance. I'd be interested to see what the angle of the truck intake is. I noticed a long time ago about that transition angle. The LSX manifold seems less, but never have gone as far to measure.

Maybe...... slightly more scientific......

C5R and the LS2 are both raised port designs.

See if I can keep this alive for another day or so. If you happen to be a GM engineer feel free to jump right in. I would think the porting guys know why they do what they do.
