Default H/C setup with manifolds, catted y-pipe, stock catback.....

A buddy of mine recently installed a set of S2 heads and G5X2 cam in his car, and is still using stock manifolds, gutted stock cats, and stock catback. I know he's gonna be down on power, but I have to say, it sounds awesome. I mean, you can tell that it has a cam in it, but it is QUIET, especially for a fairly aggresive H/C setup. My question is, how much do you think is being left on the table by retaining stock manifolds, cats (although gutted), and stock catback? 20 rwhp? 30 rwhp? 40 rwhp? How much of that will be regained with a cutout?

Thanks, Shawn

Likely around 20 hp. I know of a guy running ARE street eliminator heads, 224/224 581,114 cam, jba shorties with stock ypipe and cats and a cutout. He makes 381 hp and 374 tq through a 6 speed. I was told typical results for this combo with headers & high flow cats are 400 hp to the wheels.
