Default ls1 402 Q's

what size cam for a ls1 402 iron block that would be streetable. and what kind of head work should be done to maximize power. is it worth it to go through and get bigger valves a and a ful head job or jsut port and polish stock heads and focus more n the valve train. also is the lsx intake and throttle body worth it on a 402 i know i have heard that its not really worth it on the stock block. thanks guys

90/90 LSX is worth it if you want all that you can get out of it, which you should if you are spending the money to go bigger cubes. What do you consider streetable? From what I can gather I, personally, would go with something around the high 240's to low 250's even if it's a daily driver, but that's my preferance and may not be yours.

i have a 402 w/ a 90/90 fast intake on it... patriot stage 3 heads, and a TINY TINY TINY cam. still pulls hard til 7,000 rpm. makes great linear torque. i love it...

i'd think something in the 230 to low 240 duration range would be a good streetable came that would make great power. keep it on a 114 if you want it even more streetable.

with a 402 you can make a 245-255 duration cam pretty tame... i would stay above 248 duration... hell the T-rex cam is a 242 248 and some guys daily drive it in a 346...

true... big cubes eat up big cams.

IMO going high 230's is just a complete waste of potential when you go with larger cubes.

NOT for a 402. Stock injectors can barely take cams or heads/cam on most cars.

You need at least Ford #36's or Racetronix 37# injectors. Minimum.

Either way it is a 4" bore x 4" stroke that makes the 402. The heads are going to match up the same to the cylinders on either one.
