lets start with the exhuast ports...the 4 lil oval holes on the plug side of the head... the pushrods are pokin down thru them.. im guess i want to remove this as well as the springs ect correct?... now how much do i take out? what do i shape it like? more circlular towards the exit? and then polish it up?

instructions on opening this section of the head up a lil bit wanted.. pics of finished work so i can compare also wanted

Dont know how big to take them out to. Yes take out the spring and the valve, and a big to do is make sure they are all even. Here's some pic's of my MTI heads. Good luck. http://www.organ1zedcha0s.com/phpBB2....php?pic_id=56

If you put the mouse in the bottom right corner of the pic you can blow it up for a better view.

I looked into porting them myself as well.... after you incorporate the cost for a quality valve job and hoping that you didn't FUBAR the ports up with having no experience in ported LS1 heads..... the hours involved in porting them, imbalanced airflow from port to port...

It is better just buying a set of lower cost CnC'd and flowed heads IMO or send them to BoWhite and have him port them.

I bit the bullet and bought some AFR's.... after I bought a set of 5.3's to port and added up the parts total cost and labor the difference wasn't a huge amount.

There are many pics of ports and home porting threads on here. Takes a few minutes with search button but they are there.
