most aftermarket roller rockers are heavier over the tip, which can contribute to valve float.

yella-terras are for sure heavier over the tip. i've seen those first hand.

It has been noted that both the Harlan's and the Yella Terra's are both heavier over the tip, which contributes to valve float. It would be hard to measure the weight "over the tip". About your best bet for aftermarket rockers is the stock rockers that are reworked by Harlan Sharp. There still factory rockers, but with better bearings and no chance of them coming apart like the stockers.

Not trying to be an *** about it, but how do you measure weight on just the tip. Please explain this furthur.

You can not measure the weight over the tip but yes they are heavier over the tip as they have full rollers posisioned there. The entire body of the Harlands is lighter than the stock rockers. If your valve springs are matched to your setup you will never have a problem with valve float. The only ones having problems with it are the ones on the edge with pring pressure already. Roller is deffinatly the way to go for smooth valve train action.

I'm going with manley nextek springs and a 630-640ish lift cam and Afr 225 heads and i am hoping not to have any valve float. And i already have the harland sharps.

Look at the stockers, and look at the aftermarket rockers. By sheer mass, they're heavier. They aren't using titanium-based materials to make the rockers, so the weight isn't that much less. You can just look at them and see they're heavier.

What nate said is true, if you have it set up correctly, they should work fine. However, people running big combos seem to run the best springs they can find for their setup and still run into problems with these rockers. Just depends on how close you're pushing it before you get the rockers.

I had a problem with float with the HS on a set of weak 918's,but once I swapped in a fresh set it pulls to the 6800 limiter with no problem.
