Noob Get'n Greasey... little help please!
I have been researching cams for quite a while now and have decided to go with the new TR cheaTR cam. I'm on a budget and am installing myself. I have been to ls1howto.com and it looks like I can handle the job (I have done all of my mods for all of my cars, just haven't opened up an engine yet).
My car is a 2001 Z06 with 27,000 miles on it.
TR's $600.00 cam package comes with:
- CheaTR cam
- Comp Cams 26918 Valve Springs
- Thunder Racing Stock Length Pushrods (7.400)
Will I be fine with just this? Do I really need retainers? How much more can I expect to spend after the $600 just to get the cam in?
THANKS FOR ANY HELP!

Get some extra valve stem retainers and keep them on hand for if/when you lose one.
A new crank bolt and a long crank bolt for pulley re-install.
Also the previously mentioned gaskets and dynotune.
New oil pump pickup tube O-ring.
Something like a dowel rod to hold up the lifters.
I would go ahead and get Ti retainers.
