Default Heads for my 402 needed AFR ?

I need a set of heads for my 402 I'm putting together. I was looking at the AFR 225 with 62cc. part #1610. Are these heads available yet with the 62cc ? and if so where should I buy them from for the best price. If not available when will they be. I don't want to wait forever
Thanks
Ron
P.S. I am open to other suggestions like the patriot heads or maybe a different brand of budget heads, but with reading some of the posts I want to feel like Im getting a good head for the money and that they will flow what it is advertised.

A 72 cc version is better suited to that cubic inch....assuming you want to run pump gas. You will still need a small dish piston to be close to 11 to 1 CR.

The 225's have been consistantly putting up solid results with many 402/408 build-ups....You will be very pleased if you decide to take the plunge.

I was gonna say almost the same thing Tony.
62cc is to small for a street driven car. As Tony said the 72cc will get you 11:1 CR still and work great.
If you want more compression have them milled down a few cc's.

iam not sure about bigger cubes but iam running 59 cc heads on stock cubes and my car is daily driven on pump gas 93, so i dont see why the 62 would be a problem, now if things are different with bigger cubes someone pls correct me.

Yes sir you are way off.
When you add a longer stroke it adds compression. When you change the bore and make it bigger is adds compression. The stroke changes the compression more but both are big factors in compression.
Take a 62cc head on a 4" stroke and 4.125 bore with a flat top piston giving you 427 cubic inches and 12.6+ compression.

I think what they are talking about is the fact that the volume of the the cylinder is a factor in calculating compression ratio.

ok ok i got what u are saying longer stroke more compression hear ya there for sure but iam not to clear on why a bigger bore would add more compresion. lets say u bore out and engine now u got bigger bore u ad the pistons to make it work, just regualr flat top pistons no dish or anything y would just adding bore up the compresion????

edit::::::::oooooooooooooo ok nm i think i got it a 59 cc head works on a 346 becasue the cilinder it self is smaller, its like putting 5.3 heads on a 5.7 to up the compresion ok i got it the bigger the cilinder it self the bigger the heads needs to be ok i got it man sorry iam slow sometimes lol

Why is something I cant explin.
Why ask Why try a Bud Dry.
HAHA
Here is another example.
347 vs 388 all bore.
Lets stay with the 62cc head flat tops and a .054 gasket.
3.622 stock stroke in both motor's.
The 347 with a 3.905 bore and the 388 with a 4.125 bore.
the 347 ='s 10.61
The 388 ='s 11.53
Pretty big difference.
Now take a 3.905 bore with a 4" stroke which is a common build and gets you 383 cubes.
You get 11.6 compression.

I have a friend that has the AFR 225's ported on the exhaust side to 227's and he will pulll on me when we run N/A by half a car from 0-140 or so and we both have the exact same mods/tuning/weight you name it, same damned car. We both run 76cc chambers. He sent his to AFR's to TEA to get that done...crazy as it sounds it is true. I wished I would have done that and I may with the next set-up. If it's a DD, definately go with the 72-76cc heads. You'll like them better IMO.

I runa 408, so a 402 may want to check into a 72cc or 74cc vs. the 76cc heads. Just a thought.

2000_LS1 thanks, but dont listen to Zambolx.
He spends 8 hours per day on this site and gets paid to do it.
Fridays is his only busy day at work and normally not until friday afternoon.
He just forgets everything he reads.

Honestly there is a life of stuff you could read and learn on this site.
I do my best to stay smarter then the competion. Of course there is always someone smarter and better then you are and on this site there are quite a few very smarter people.
Quiz me on SCR and I will be lost. That is when I reply on other users.
Keep reading and you will learn. If you have a question use the search and if you find nothing ask.
The first thing you can do to learn a lot is read JRP's guides to everything.
He is one of the more respected tech users and has taken tons of time to help all users.
Check out his sticky at the top of this page and while your there you will see 4 links in his sig. Read those as well.
It will take time but is very helpful.
Makes reading harry potter seem like child's play.

damn i been found out lol alast this true. However in my own defence i have spend like the last month or so in the lounge section, and while threads like ur favorite movie quote are quite entertaining they really do take up time and cranial real state other wise used for tech, i know i only have my self to blaim so as of right now iam quiting cold turqey and coming back the the tech section.

o and dont lissen to jz i dont get paid to do this i just milk the clock all day thats all lol o and i dont do this 8 hours a day i only work like 6 hours a day exept for fridays wich really suck and i swear it should be illegal to get up for work before 10 in the morning casue them there is very little work i could do out of one blodshot eye at 8:00 am , the rest of the time i screw around and go to school once in a while, anyways enough highjacking lets return the thread to ur regularly schedule tech topic.

Well, I took the "blue pill" I guess. I called Tony and talked for a bit and I ordered a set of AFR 225's.... Damn it's a lot of money but I'm sure I won't regret it later when I strap it on the dyno. Now I'm just going CRAZY waiting for the heads.

That would be a killer job. Especially with all the HOT CHICKS, I don't know if the g/f would go for that though.

So...you did order them??? Congrats, you'll love them when you get them the only thing you can do afterwards is upgrade the springs, if you didn't already, and have the intake side ported if you ever get to that point in mods, I would think to really capitalize on that you would need a ~250+ duration in it. Probably wouldn't be 5-10rwhp difference with a 230-240 cam IMO.
