lpe gt2-3 if you have one come in please.

I am wanted to get this cam for my mostly stock car and want to know if the pushrods should be stock length 7.4 or if i need something longer??Also let me know what springs you guys are running with this cam.Ls6 springs just dont sit well with me but lpe says they work good.give me your input.thanks

I used my stock pushrods and bought the Manley 1423 spring kit from SDPC2000.com for $179 which icluded Ti retainers. All worked well for me.

T/A-Speedfreak 07-18-2005 06:59 PM

I used the stock length pushrods. I really enjoyed the power the cam made.

speedfreak what kind of springs did you use with yours.i am considering the manleys but i might lean towards a beehive spring.

redtail2426 07-18-2005 07:09 PM

also let me know sleeper if those springs you have are noisy campared to the stock springs.thanks guys

99ssleeper 07-18-2005 07:16 PM

you'll get noise with any aftermarket spring because the pressures are higher.

it's not real loud, not as bad as you think.

decided to go with comp 918's just because they are a very good spring from what i read and the guys at lpe said they would also work if i didnt want to use the ls6 springs, just costs more.does anyone know if the titanium retainers they recommend will give me an installed height of 1.8.thanks guys

same here

I went with 918's and chrome molly 7.425 pushrods. Unless you have the LS6's longer valve stems, you need to increase the PR lenght to keep the lifter preload at the proper value, compensating for the smaller base circle of the LPE cam. :chug:

Anybody got a before and after of this cam? I have been searching for some time, interested in lower RPM increases as well as peak values.

NviouSS 07-19-2005 07:16 AM

before on manifolds

let me know what length pushrods you guys are using .I called lpe to find out what the base circle on the cam is so i could figure it out myself but they dont know that measurment. My motor is stock and i dont think the 7.4's would be correct with that lift on the cam.

Dan_the_C5_Man 07-21-2005 05:24 PM

See my previous post. 7.450 might be o.k., but to play it safe, 7.425. And I intend to dyno my car after the cam swap, but it will be a few weeks yet. The only change will be LPE cam and an underdrive pulley. :chug:

I'm running my stock pushrods and the springs that come with the kit which I believe are "484" LS2 springs.

Hasn't been a problem in almost a year. Nice and quiet :)

Dyno numbers in sig.

redtail2426 07-21-2005 05:39 PM

yeah i will use the 7.425 length just because i know 7.4's wont give me the stock preload.I know there is no way the base circle on the gt2-3 is the same as stock so i will definitly use the longer ones to make up for it thanks guys.

Why? LPE says stock length is fine. If mine was too short, I think I'd hear that. Mine is as quiet as stock.

redtail2426 07-21-2005 06:55 PM

I know what lpe says it probably puts you in the .030-.035 preload range which is still ok but i want the factory preload settings of .050-.060.I rather keep the factory preload than what lpe says will work.
