Default PRC 5.3l heads was told hand finishing doesnt effect the flow?

i ordered a set of PRC 5.3l heads, and a sponsor told me that "the hand finishing is slowing everything down alot & doesn't really effect flow."

if it doesnt really effect, then should i skip out on it? ive already waited about 3 weeks for my heads. not sure how much longer i want to wait if i chose the hand finishing.

Hand finishing will increase flow in some situations but even then its a small amount. Mostly, hand finishing makes the ports/chambers more appealing to the eye- sure it will keep carbon from being as much an issue later down the road but mostly its done for customer satisfaction. Most ported runners have untouched areas that didnt need any work done and most customers do not understand it as much so they(the porter) hand finishes the porting to blend everything in visually....mostly.

I have tested the hand finish vs. the cnc and bowl blended heads. The hand finishing added 3-4 cfm tops. Both heads are blended in the valve bowl area the same way. This is the area that matters the most. The rest is for cosmetic reasons.

The last comparison we did the two types of heads were within 2 cfm!! If the cnc program is built correctly then the heads won't usually pickup much cfm
