my new K&N owns my Old Fram tough guard filter

hell yea... kicks its ass.. after doing a lil reading when i read on here that frams suck. there is no comparision.. but today after installing i swear im noticing more oil pressure thruout?! could this be? does fram suck that badly? ive heard horror stories of them coming apart on the inside and going up in the motor and shit.. but do the restrict flow as well?

I use the Mobil1 oil filters. Any idea if they suck?

K&N is the only oil filter I'll run now.

I used the Mobil 1 before I switched to the K&N and had no problems with them.

ISn't the K&N filter reusable? you just replace the internal filter element, or am I thinking of another oil filter?

PREDATOR-Z 08-05-2005 01:23 PM

I've had similar results with the K&N VS AC/DELCO tall filter.

ROCNDAV 08-05-2005 01:30 PM

Is it a better filter or does it just allow more material to flow through?

PREDATOR-Z 08-05-2005 01:36 PM

Both..

Compared to ???

Check out:Oil filter study

I used to run Mobil-1, but Terry Dyson told me to switch based on my oil analysis. He felt I needed more flow. Also, I started developing a startup tick that has now not come back. I am running the Baldwin filter.

I meant, if it flows better (that other filters), is that due to larger size or because its letting bigger particles through.

It looks like the Purolator L34631 (not PL) and Mobil1-302 are the highest flowing of the bunch?
