Question 1.8 rockers w/ stock 02 Z06 springs? Help my friend...

My friend wants to put 1.8 rockers on his 02 Z06 and still has stock valvetrain. He wants to know if his stock springs can take the rockers. I've heard many different storys how much these springs can take so any help would be great.

I told him to buy the 918's and forget about it but he doesn't feel like changing the springs, dunno why

Have him visit z06vette.com and take a look around. There seems to be a rash of LS6 broken springs lately, and they are starting to wonder if the spring are getting fatiqued and letting go.

while you can do it. it's a matter of when one will break. tell him to do it and get back with us on the total miles he gets when he breaks one. what happens is the valve will open and shut quicker as well as gain higher lift. more spring pressure will be needed to control the rapid movement.

i didn't take the chance and put vinci duals in when i did the 1.8 accelerated lift rockers.

I really don't think he's gonna go with that plan...breaking one. I'll suggest it but also suggest 918's like I have been for awhile

I don't think so!

Too much total lift!
