Parts list for 1000RWHP
My friend is interested in building a 1000RWHP Twin Turbo LS1 to put into his chevelle.
He is going to custom fab up the turbo setup, but he and I are interested in the supporting parts. I've told him that this goal is pretty unrealistic without a lot of money, but he seems pretty determined to do it.
Basic outline.
Iron block (what crank, pistons, rods?)
Heads (What would a good set of heads to support that much HP?)
ECM (Which standalone is best?)
T56 (I hear G-Force is good?)
Rear (Definately a 9inch)
These are just the basics, but any tips/suggestions would be great.

I've already said that as well to him, but he insists on having a T56. I don't think he plans to really race the car that much so I am guessing it will hold up.

no reason to go with an iron block unless you are getting one just due to ease of availability, or cost.
why 1K hp anyway? I am building up my twin turbo setup to make maybe 650-700. cant use that much on the street. even at 10psi and maybe 550-575 it can get silly.
in any case: a forged shortblock is 3K+1 (if forged crank), heads 2K, intake 400+, trans 1500+, rear 1500+, dfi or fast type setup? 750+, 2 turbo's up to 1500 each?, innercooler(s) 500+? , injectors 450+ , clutch 500+ (realistically 1000) , dyno time for tuning 500+ , exhaust 250+ , fuel system 1000? , guages fittings and all the rest 500+
so what do we have here?
say 15K if he goes with new decent turbo's. and the other stuff I didn't think of will nickle and dime ya to death. plus I didn't figure in for materials for all the fabbing of the turbo setup. did he win the lottery?

Thats the parts list, MONEY.
I'd ditch the t56 idea, go for more of richmond, or stronger tranny. the new tremec t600 is pretty nice too...
Driveline will take a bunch of money.
As for the setup, iron block would be my choice aswell, less movement when hot.
Look at mighty mouse's setup, hes up there pretty good.
do some searching in the F/I section too, harlan has done alot with his turbo setups, and has made the #s, with times to back it.
tuning, unless you do it yourself, *could* cost you out the ***. I highly doubt anyone will dune with dfi/bs3/fast/etc for cheap(like a regular h/c tune) on a TT setup, with a 1k rwhp goal.

Call Kurt at W2W, who can tell you exactly what you need. Very few people actually know.

Fuel system will be way more than $1000, probably closer to 2000-2500 after you've ran all of your lines and the very expensive fittings.
We do an iron shortblock that is a proven 1000rwhp and it can be had for $5700-6100.
DFI, $1700-2500 depending on options and control.
Top end, at least $4000, maybe $5000 if you go with Jesels or the like for RR.
What are going to do for a manifold?
How about the oiling system, dry sump or good ole gerotor?
The Dailey setup is right around $3133.00, ask me how I know.
Intercooler options?
Custom fab of all your tubing for intercooler and exhaust manifolds unless the cast trucks will fit in the Chevelle, which is probably the case.
Either way, probably will be more than what he expects, I've learned from my projects to plan on 2500-5000 more than what I budget for.
And after all that, figuring out a way to keep the back window of that Chevelle from popping out.

You need a water cooled checkbook and a good friend who owns both an LS1 shop and many 7 sec cars.
Your list will be very short
(also, a water cooled checkbook will make you very good friends with owners of said shops)

I'm headed down that road myself. I'm opting for the ls2 block 4bore/4stroke 402. I'm going with manley billet rods w/arp 220,000 rod bolts, eagle forged crank, JE turbo dish pistons, arp head/main studs, cometic head gaskets, afr 225's, custom grind cam, ls2 intake/TB, 6.0L truck manifolds, meth injection. Have the turbonetics ceramic ball bearing thumper turbo (t91) sitting right here next to me and am having a built-on-car custom 1500horse air to water intercooler setup being built. Street car/T56.

I'd go iron block pro gram caps... ARP main and head studs Callies,HTC or Windberg crank....Carrilo(sp) rods JE slugs, ALL PRO heads..cough cough...PSI springs Excledyne retainers locks Excledyne inconel valves T&D or jessel rockers(not SS) Smith brothers or Manton push rods Hogan or wilson manifold... Daily dry sump... your gunna have oil lines running everywhere with TT this will only make it easer...only think I can say for trans is POWERGLIDE... 9 inch would prob fly long as it wasnt some OE peice big carrier bearings I left ou the fuel system....Im tired....
