How to remove the oil filler cap from valve cover?

I had to pull off the calve cover. If you take the cap off though, and shine a light in there, you can make out the little clip that holds the stock oil filler in place. It's much simpler and easier to get to if you just pull off the valve cover, and then you can get directly to the hook that holds it in place. just pry a small head flathead into the clip holding it in place, and twist.
