Default Would you use this cam-pics inside

This cam was pulled out of a car recently-had a slight marking on one of the lobes-doesn't look like a gouge or anyhting but if your rub your fingernail over it you can feel it. What do you all think-can it be reused?

I guess my reply didn't work, I would use it. It doesn't look that bad and cams wear anyhow. I would expect something like that if I bought a used cam.

I wouldnt use it. Something is messed up. It could trash the motor.

The motor it was pulled out of had no issues. BUT the heads never came off the car so we don't know what the lifter looked like-this was just pulled out and another cam was put in. It doesn't look like gouging -there is no rough edge-almost looks like it was made that way-could maybe some dirt have got caught between the lifter and the lobe? Well if can last 5000 miles I may just throw it in.

I would use it after taking some type of polishing cloth to it just be safe the same thing machine shops do for cranks when it doesn't need turning.

I wouldn't use it if you could feel any marks.
that could eat a lifter and end up completley trashing the cam, etc...

Yeah If you can feel the mark It should be good. I had a trashed cam and you would not like the way the marks felt. There was a machine shop that fixed my old cam for 40 bucks.

That looks like normal cam wear. As long as you don't feel much friction you should be fine.

I would not use it if you can feel the mark. Why spend all that time to put something back in that may jeopardize the entire engine?
