If you are running stock lifters and high spring loads, please step in

I am trying to figure out how much you can load up the stock lifters prior to having a problem. I have done a search and come up with what appears to be springs that don’t work and springs that do but the data is sketchy. I have also found data through searching that indicates 150 lb seat pressure is the maximum (assuming 1.7 rockers, 140 lbs with 1.8 rockers).

However, I think both the seat pressure and the open pressure must be factored in and I want to come up with a line in the sand beyond which you might get into trouble with the stock lifters based on load transmitted from the spring back to the lifter through the rocker ratio (1,6, 1.8, 1.85, etc.).

Anyhow, I would like to get some input on what people are running for installed seat pressure and rocker ratio vs. spring.

If you are pushing the envelope on stock lifters, can you provide the following:

Spring type
Installed height
Rocker ratio
Cam lift (or lift with standard 1.7 and I will work it backwards)
Have you had a lifter problem (collapse, damage, etc.)

ttt for you. Good question...I am also thinking of changing my cam but do not neccessarily want to lift heads if stock lifters can work with ...lets say a TR224 cam.

i always thought that you dont want more than 130lbs of seat pressure or they will bleed down? maybe not though
